If you knew you were being shipped off to war, would you spend your last days of freedom

alone, or would you spend it with your fellow service men, betting on a Dogfight?

The Koorliny Arts Centre and The City of Kwinana presents the Western Australian amateur

premier of “Dogfight the Musical” directed and choreographed by Gillian Binks, with musical

directors’ Maddie Moulin and Shaun Davis.

“Dogfight the Musical” is based on the book by Peter Duchan and the Warner Bros. Film and

Screenplay by Bob Comfort, with music and lyrics from Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.

The incredible production includes an unbelievably talented cast with Lochlan Curtis as

Eddie Birdlace, Ciara Taylor as Rose, Aramis Martino as Boland, Genevieve Wilson as

Marcy, Jamie Jewler as Lounge Singer and Others, Charlie Darlington as Bernstein, Oliver

Temey as Stevens, Dan Suttner as Fector, Will Gorn as Gibbs, Victoria Marsden as Mama,

Bronte McLennan as Penny, Rhianna Patching as Ruth Two Bears, and Eliza Sear-Rigg as

Betty.

The leading performers Lochlan Curtis and Ciara Taylor perfectly matched each other’s

vocal range and energy, playing their roles alongside each other seamlessly, especially in

scenes where swearing was judged, bets were revealed, and boundaries were placed.

An honourable mention to both Aramis Martino and Charlie Darlington, both performers

perfectly balanced their roles and brought the audience into the camaraderie of the three B’s

naturally, while Jamie Jewler was also a stand-out, playing multiple roles with perfect energy

and understanding of each and every role that was taken on board.

From the set to the costumes, each aspect of the production aimed to please and hit the

mark every time, adding that little bit extra to each and every scene, with perfect timing and

pacing being kept throughout.

A musical would not be complete without the musicians themselves which include the

amazing violinists Hanna Herriman and Charlie Thoo, guitarist Emily Ranford, drummer

Charlie Copeland, bassist Suresh Manivannah, and cellist Finn Stenning Alexander..

An amazing Western Australian amateur premier, and if seeing musicals is on your to-do list,

definitely head out to Kwinana to see this production!
